PEACH STATE CLASSIC
Stoneridge Prep came up against some of the top competition in
the south playing Community Christian, Redemption Christian and
Atlanta Prep. This mid- season tournament has been a great
developing ground for a depth of talent that is continuing to
work toward being one of the best prep teams on the tour.
INDIVIDUAL GAMES 12/16 - 12/17
In a re-match from the CGS National Prep Showcase, Philadelphia
Lutheran came back to their second meeting this season against
Stoneridge Prep with a flury of defense and a full court press
that was hard to overcome. The game at St. Augustine Prep gym in
Richland, NJ, left the two teams tied with one win each.
Hundreds of Pennsylvania fans saw American Christian nudge by
Stoneridge Prep at the Tri Plex Sports complex in Aston, PA, in a game that could have gone either way. With
less than two minutes to play the game was tied at 50 when
American Christian put on a surge of energy to overcome the
Stoneridge defense.
CSG NATIONAL PREP SHOWCASE
After a long grueling road trip, Stoneridge Prep went to the
bench to win in overtime against Philadelphia Lutheran in a
see-saw battle that went down to the wire.
Ibrahima Thomas,
off the bench, lead all scorers with 23 points and dropped in a
reverse lay up off of a steal that tied the game for Stoneridge
in the last minutes. Marvin Adams
had 13 points, from off the bench, and
knocked down one of his four three pointers in the last minute
that proved to be the shot that secured the win. Starting
back-court-duo Shane
Mahoney and Herb
Tanner were also in double figures with 14 points, plus 5
assist for Shane and 12 points, plus 7 assists for Herb.
QUEEN CITY CLASSIC
Stoneridge Prep had three tough games against Harmony Prep,
Genesis I Elite and Community Christian School who brought their
best game in order to beat Stoneridge.
The first game in the Queen City Classic proved to be a battle
that swayed toward Harmony Prep late in the first half.
Harmony Prep went deep into their bench to apply full court
pressure throughout the whole game. There were many
gallant attempts by the Stoneridge Five to overcome the press
but to no avail.
The second game against Genesis I Elite was a rematch from the
NEAA Elite NIT in Atlanta in Mid-November. Genesis redeemed the
status with an onslaught of press and break that wore through
the Stoneridge defense.
The third game on this road trip was within reach until the
final minutes when Community Christian did a great job running
down the clock to thwart off a noble attempt by Stoneridge to
overcome the press.
