STONERIDGE WINS SILVER CHAMPIONSHIP
After four days of engaging teams from all over the country at
the NEAA Elite NIT,
Stoneridge Prep was victorious in their battle against Genesis I
Elite on Saturday night at Community Christian School in
Stockbridge, Georgia which is just south of Atlanta. In this gym
amongst the woods, Stoneridge Prep won the Silver Division
Championship beating Genesis I Elite 78-67.
The starting lineup was lead in the backcourt by the dynamic duo,
Shane Mahoney
and Herb Tanner, joined
in the front court by the high flying
Mahamoud
Diakite and Djibril Thiam and the main event,
Hamady N'Diaye at
center. The supporting cast was,
Marvin Adams,
Albert Brown, Mamadou
Diarra, Peter
Schroeder, Boubacar
Sylla and Ibrahima Thomas.
The final game took a turn toward Stoneridge from the beginning
with Hamady throwin' down dunk after dunk after dunk. Djibril
followed along with split leg dunks after shakin' the defense,
as well as Mahamoud who took a spectacular trip down the
baseline to explode to the hole with a monster dunk with a force seen only from a
world class athlete. Shane and Herb were leading the key points
of attack running the floor and knocking down jumpers.
HERB TANNER EARNS AWARD
The dynamic Herb Tanner put on impressive performances
throughout the NEAA Elite National Invitational Tournament
earning a First Team All Tournament award which was presented at
center court by
Linzy Davis, CEO of
the National Elite Athletic Association (NEAA). Herb
knocked down jumpers and dazzled the crowd with explosive drives
to the hole.
THE NEXT EVENTS
For the week following Thanksgiving, Stoneridge Prep will travel
to Cincinnati Ohio for three games in the Queen City Classic at
Harmony Prep on Thursday and Friday. They will travel to
New Jersey for the CSG National Prep
Showcase for games on Saturday and Sunday, taking the
court against Hargrave Military Academy from Virginia and Philadelphia Lutheran. |
